Shower pan leaking can generally be broken down into two categories. The first is lead pan failure. Most houses that are over 20 years old have showers that were built with lead pans. Over time, the lead will oxidize and break down. That will lead to leaks. At this time, the only true answer is a replacement. The second category is an improperly installed pan. Most plumbers and tile setters are not properly trained in the correct method of installing a shower pan. There is a lot of work and detail that goes into building a pan and each step or “layer” is crucial to the long term functionality of the shower pan.
When tackling a project of this stature, it is important to make sure you are working with a professional. Perfect Services/Grout Perfect and our team of installers have over 50 years of combined experience in solving these problems. Feel free to contact our office to arrange a pan test.
